Now Justin Herbert may have an Offensive Rookie of the Year trophy and Pro Bowl under his belt, but right now that is his success. Herbert’s efficiency was also highlighted in the week 17 game, especially on fourth down. Herbert also is clutch when it comes to pushing the ball down the field, which is also highlighted in the week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. His arm strength is ridiculous, and the throw against the New York Giants while he had pressure in his face highlights this. I think the biggest takeaway of his strengths is how much arm strength Herbert has. In 2021, Herbert threw for 38 touchdowns, 5,014 yards, had a quarterback rating of 65.6, and even had 302 rushing yards. ![]() Again, what Herbert has done on the field can back up each strength. However, other strengths do consist of athleticism, mobility, efficiency, and clutchness down the field. Herbert has unique arm strength that is stronger than Burrow. ![]() Herbert is different from Burrow in many ways. Now speaking of Herbert, his strengths are a bit different than Burrow’s. But that argument is extremely unfair, especially when the Los Angeles Chargers were so close to making the playoffs and it wasn’t Herbert’s fault. Which is more than Justin Herbert has done for now. Burrow has already taken the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl, and the playoffs. Earlier I mentioned that one thing people will look for in comparing quarterbacks is who will have the most success. One of his best escapes is highlighted in the AFC Championship Game where Burrow was able to extend a play and get out of what should have been a sack. As for Burrow’s release time, he had a time in the 2021 season of 2.59 which was the eighth quickest in the NFL.īurrow may not have the strongest arm or the fastest in the league, but his ability to escape sacks and extend plays is incredible for a guy who had basically blown out his knee the year before. He is also not afraid to get hit while throwing the ball, as while on the run he often tries to extend a play while getting hit. Burrow’s confidence is something that has been able to spread around in the locker room, and many teammates have been able to back this up. In 2021, Burrow had a 70.4 completion rating with a 108.3 passer rating, not to mention he was coming off a torn ACL/MCL season-ending injury he suffered in 2020. ![]() Each strength I mentioned for Burrow, can easily be backed up by what Burrow has produced on the field. For Burrow, his strengths are accuracy, efficiency, toughness, confidence, release time, and athleticism. I would even say their stats reflect how different their strengths and weaknesses are. Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert have different strengths, weaknesses, and stats. When people try to compare quarterbacks they do so by comparing stats, strengths, and weaknesses. ![]() Both have so much potential to be great, and one has even made it to the Super Bowl, but who knows where these guys will be in the next five years. Some might say each quarterback is the next “Peyton Manning,” or the next “Tom Brady,” but right now there is still a lot unknown. However, there has been plenty of debates on which quarterback is the best, and which one will have more success. Two quarterbacks drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, both franchise quarterbacks, both who have fan bases that adore them.
